A Passion For Fashion

You know how some little girls grow up playing dress up in princess costumes and trainer high heels? Yeah...that was never me. I was your typical tom-boy, hanging with my boy cousins wearing sweats, tearaway pants and playing Power Rangers. Even in high school, I didn't really get the chance to dress up too much because I had to wear school uniforms everyday.

As I graduated high school and started college, I really enjoyed playing with my wardrobe and taking some fashion risks. I would choose clothing in stores that were out of my comfort zone and half the time it would look terrible. But the other half would really appeal to me and what I felt was my personal style. I even encouraged friends to do the same, choosing pieces that they would never in a million years try on, but pushing them to at least bring it to the change room. More often than not, they loved what I chose and would seek me out for wardrobe advice.

My personal style is continuously evolving and developing. I wouldn't say that I have an overly girly style, but I do like to dress-up in pretty dresses for the right occasion. The dress I wore in today's post is perfect for a night out. I wore it for dinner at a golf course and matched it with a hat to add a summery feel.

How did fashion become a passion of yours?

  9. What a lovely story on how you got a passion for fashion, lovely that it started and has continued by pushing the fashion boundaries! Love when one is fearless in the pursuit of finding a style that works. And love that you often use hats to your outfit, I'm constantly reminded that I have to start wearing them even more!

My passion for fashion has always been there, but I usually date it back to when I was 7 and made a blue sequin dress with my mom for my birthday. I remembered how much I loved picking what color I wanted, sequins or not and the style of the dress! And now I'm here giving my life to fashion! Xx

Which is probably why I love looking at your photos so much! I will always be just a t-shirt and jeans girls. Love my Nikes too! :p

  16. I love this dress and the way you've styled it, beauty! It's a bit girly and boho with a slight touch of edge; I love fused looks like this that combine various styles into one, I feel it makes for a more unique pairing. It's funny, growing up, I went through phases. There were times I hated the thought of wearing dresses and skirts and then there were times that I would play in my mom's makeup (still do, haha) and drape bedsheets around me pretending they were gowns. I developed a TRUE passion and interest, however, around the same time as you, college. When I got a job at Ann Taylor, I loved being around clothes and trends and helping women shop and make suggestions on what would look great on them. We have quite a bit in common in our fashion journeys! Now, I'd say my overall style is eclectic, so it changes constantly at a drop of a hat, it all really depends on the mood I'm in, which I think is pretty awesome! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having the best start to your week so far!

  28. Finally I got the time to check this gorgeous dress you posted on IG. You look stunning. I always been a fashion addict since I was so young. I grew up in Albania and we didn't have much fashion magazines back than nor I could afford anything, it was communism and everybody sort looked the same. I would take my grandmas clothes (mostly black), fix them up to my liking by hand. I would get into so much trouble each time I wore something unusual or fashionable. I am the eldest in my family, have three younger sisters and every nigh I would ask them to do a fashion show with clothes that I would make by hands.
Yup I was that obsessed :)
