At the start of every flight, the stewardess always announces the emergency procedures and reminds you to put your own oxygen mask on yourself before helping anyone around you. This is to ensure your own health and safety before you can have the capacity to help those around you. If you fail to put your own oxygen on and pass out, no one around you can benefit or be helped.

I like to apply the same principle to my own personal life. In order for me to be the best version of myself, to give and love at my greatest capacity, I have to first love and care for myself.

Today I wanted to share some ways to love yourself because YOU deserve love!

1. Recognize your limitations. You can't do it all and that's okay. Focus on what can be realistically achieved and put your effort into that.  Knowing when to say no is also a big part of knowing your limitations.

2. Celebrate your strengths. Make a list of your positive qualities and celebrate them. It's important to recognize what you're good at rather than always focusing on what you want to change about yourself.

3. Stop comparing yourself to others. I think this is a big thing for many women and it's a major no-no! If you're constantly in competition or comparing yourself to others, it's easy to get down on what you aren't accomplishing in your own life. Rather, be inspired by those around you and be grateful for what you do have.

4. Take time each day, even if it's a small amount of time, to do one thing for yourself that makes you happy. Maybe that's having a cup of tea and reading for 30 minutes or watching an episode of your favorite TV show. It's important to make time for yourself, no matter how busy your day can be. You will feel a lot better if you have a few moments to indulge in what makes you happy.

What are some ways you show love to yourself?

  8. Love that you brought up the plane/oxygen thing. One of my closest friends always reminds me of it and it couldn't be more true! You have to help yourself first in order to help others. So I'm definitely all for giving yourself some love on a daily basis, in order to be able to be your very best and show love to others!

Hope you had a lovely Valentine's day with your husband, and if I'm not wrong (?!) hope you had a lovely anniversary too! Xx

  18. These are the best pointers! We are so quick to criticize ourselves for our failings and we don't allow ourselves that time for ourselves. It's so important to take time out of each day for ourselves for our happiness and wellbeing!

  36. What a wonderful post and points my dear Rina! I am so glad to see we have so many common interests about self improvement! And style of course! I find not comparing ourselves to others is life saving! Comparison is the thief of joy, and what's worse is we usually tend to compare our beginning to someone else's peak! When it comes to loving myself, I try to treat my self as I would to my very dearest friends. To not judge, to forgive, to take good rest, good nutrition and good care overall.
Thanks for sharing one more inspiring post and have an amazing weekend!

    1. That is one of the wisest things I've ever heard! You are so right, when we compare, we are comparing our beginning to someone's peak. I shared that with my hubby and he agreed and no wonder it's so defeating!
