Lady in Red - How to Wear Red for Spring

Today we are continuing on with my second look from my brand spotlight series with Jac by JC. You can check out the introductory post here if you missed it.

Since the hubby and I work like dogs during the week and sometimes only spend 1-2 wakeful hours together during the day, we aim to have a date night at least once every 1-2 weeks. I always enjoy putting in a little extra effort getting ready for date night, especially if I had a pretty low key week at work.

When my eyes fell on this stunning red and dramatic off the shoulder top, I knew I had to style it. My wardrobe can get pretty neutral and sometimes and I have to remind myself to add a pop of colour to the mix. Red was actually the colour of my wedding theme so it also holds sentimental value for me.

Sometimes I find it tricky to incorporate and style colour but if you try out the following simple styling ideas, you should have no problem adding some color to your wardrobe this Spring!

1. Pair a bold, coloured top with your favourite jeans. I'm loving high-waist cropped denim at the moment and if the hem has a fun cut-out like mine above, even better!

2. Stick with classic accessories. I chose a neutral belt and bag to pair with my bright top. Let the vibrant piece steal the show rather than compete with the rest of your outfit.

3. Try a current trend. I chose an off shoulder top with ruffle sleeves which are two of the biggest Spring trends at the moment. How can you say no to either ultra-feminine silhouettes?

4. Choose a colour you're comfortable with. If you typically dress in neutrals, ease yourself into more colourful choices by picking a colour that is not completely foreign to you. Comfortable and confident go hand in hand and if you don't feel comfortable in the colour you're wearing, it will show.
