Burnt in Barbados

Our cruise ship... it was massive!

Barbados is a Caribbean island that I hope to visit again someday. The water is clear and it's sunny all year round!

We lucked out the day we docked because the beaches we're pretty empty for such a touristy spot. The locals informed us that if we had visited the same beach on a weekend, it would have been packed.

The hubby and I had managed to avoid sunburns up until we stopped in Barbados. During our previous days, we had the shade from the clouds preventing us from getting too much sun. Fortunately, but al unfortunately, there was barely a cloud in the sky in Barbados and we underestimated the power of the Caribbean sun. Even with reapplying sunscreen regularly, we both returned to the cruise ship bright red lobsters. Showering for the remainder of the trip was such a painful task (ice cold showers only!).

I also had my first experience with heat stroke. "Why do I feel soooo tired?" I asked Dell as we walked back to the ship. When I could barely lift my legs to walk, I knew I had too much sun.

Note to self for the future trips to sunny destinations: hydrate and find shade!

More to come from St. Martinique and Antigua!
