One thing I've been known to do is buy a holiday dress, wear it once, and never look at it again (you can check out the post where I styled this as a holiday outfit here). I mean talk about a complete waste of money! This year I challenged myself to see if I could style a holiday dress for daytime wear so that I could maximize its use, and I was pretty happy with the results.
Read on for 3 tips on how to re-style your holiday dress for a day time outfit:
1. Layer: Throw on a top or sweater to give the illusion that you're wearing a skirt. You can also layer the opposite way and tuck your dress into pants (I've seen this done with slip dresses) but you'll have to gauge how bulky your dress material is otherwise it may look unflattering and bulky
2. Swap: Your party heels for casual booties.
3. Accessorize Accordingly: Throw on a toque or hat for a cool and effortless vibe and swap your evening clutch for your favourite day time tote.
Have you ever re-styled your holiday dresses for daywear? Would you consider it?
Great styling idea, you look goreous in this outfit. Have a lovely weekend :-)

I am so buying a similar dress Rina haha! This is absolutely amazing, I love how different this look is from the previous one, and it is amazing that the cornerstone for both outfits is the same red velvet dress! Of course with your amazing styling, a lot can happen! Thank you so much for the inspiration! The contrast of the red velvet with the leather jacket is divine!
ReplyDeletePS: You look so gorgeous my darling!
