Sometimes fitness and exercise seems like the last thing to have time for in your busy day. Today I wanted to share some ways to get motivated with your fitness, even for those of you with the busiest schedules. Whether you're just starting out or struggling to keep active this can be helpful for you:
1. Self-identify
your reasons for wanting to increase your fitness/activity level. There are
always a million and a half reasons to not do something, find the one reason
why you NEED to do it. Is it to become healthier, fit into clothes better, to
improve self-esteem? If you can identify why you want to be more active in the
first place, you can determine how important it is for you to commit.
2. Make it a priority.
If that means less TV watching, meal prepping on weekends rather than weeknights
to free up evenings ( I do this), find something less important in your daily
life and make this a priority over that. Remember only you have the power to change your lifestyle and routine and only you can motivate yourself enough to reach those goals.
3. Find something that
you like to do rather than something you dread. If you enjoy your workout, you’re that much more likely to stick with it.
For me that’s Zumba. I dance 3-4x/ week for my cardio and fitness and I feel
guilty anytime I miss a class because I love it so much. It doesn’t feel so
much like a chore because it’s become more of a hobby for me rather than
something I HAVE to do.
4. Find a workout buddy. This could be a friend or family member. If you find someone who has similar fitness
goals as you or that you can workout with regularly, you’re that much more likely to exercise because
you have someone to be accountable to.
5. Join a class.
There is something about being in a class that brings out the competitive side
of me which pushes me to get the most out of my workout. If you have a competitive
personality, you may find a group workout setting to be much more motivating
than being by yourself. For those of you that are hesitant to try something out
of your comfort zone (like Zumba), take
a trial class. Many gyms offer free
days for your to test the class before you commit.

I aim for 5-6 days of exercise per week because I crave
daily fitness. It is my 1 hour a day to
clear my mind completely and let go of any stress I may have. You don't need to exercise as frequently either. Some find that 3 days a week is enough to get them the results they want. It all depends on what you're trying to achieve.
FOR THOSE OF YOU THAT CANNOT GET OUT OF THE HOUSE AND HAVE
VERY LIMITED TIME IN A DAY THIS MAY BE YOUR ALTERNATIVE:
On days that are extremely busy where I can’t get to the gym,
the hubby and I complete a home-based 30 minute high-intensity work out called Insanity Max 30 by Beach Body (shop here). If you’re looking for something to kick your butt in a
short period of time or for those of you on a constant time crunch, this is
definitely the work out for you! Warning: this is a very intensive program, so you may want to start with something easier (like Focus T25 or Cize) if you're just starting your fitness regime.
If you have any questions let me know in the comments below!

Oh me too babe! It really keeps you accountable!
DeleteWOW, you are so dedicated and it shows! These are all really great tips. It can be so hard to stick to routines when you're as busy as we all are, but it is so important to make time for fitness!
ReplyDeleteThank you babe! I know how you feel. It's just become as routine as eating or going to work, something that needs to be apart of my daily routine <3
DeleteI'm am so with you, I love to exercise and it is such an important part of my day. Having a set allocated time everyday helps me to ensure my workout gets done! I have never tried Zumba but do LOVE to do Konga (another dance based exercise) at least once a week, it is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing by the way!

ReplyDeleteLoving your tips! I think for me it will in house work out for a little while since I have a 2 months old. I'm slowly starting to work out by taking long walks and doing soft exercises recommended by my physiotherapist. I'll have to wait for intense exercises since I had a c-section!
ReplyDeleteLove your activewear look!
Thanks for inspo.

Great post! One thing that always keeps me going and works if you are competitive is to sign up for a race. You might start with a 5km race and then one day discover yourself tackling amazing challenges like Ironman triathlons.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the idea Angie, I'm just not a very good runner =P

Dang lady! As a personal trainer, you put me to shame haha. I try to aim for 3-4 days at the gym. Unfortunately, a few years ago I totally burnt myself out by going 6-7 days a week and eating virtually nothing. Now I aim for a balanced life. It's so great that you love what you do and you can make it to the gym! It's definitely not easy for a lot of people. Making it a priority like paying a bill or cleaning your house is really one of the best ways to make it work. :)
ReplyDelete-Emily www.coatandcoffee.com
That's smart babe! You definitelty don't want to burn yourself out, it's so unhealthy. Lately, this number has decreased to 4-5x per week just because of the business of my current schedule. Also Ifind it harder to start motivated when it's always so dark and gloomy!
DeleteI prefer doing martial arts as an exercise!
ReplyDeleteLove the post!

Damn!! Hands down to you for being so fit and regular about it! Lovely tips you share too, definitely some that I need to improve on. I walk for almost an hour daily, but would love mix it up a bit with different activities. I do prefer when one works out without being aware of it, like bicycling, soccer or tennis. Definitely gotta improve on that area! Such a great tips too to have a buddy to do it with, hahah gotta find one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing babe, hope you're having a lovely week! Xx

Yes, it's so much easier to stick with it if it doesn't feel like going for dreadful exercise.
DeleteWow you are so regular with the exercises. Your body is perfect and fit!

DeleteFirst of all, your body is goals my dear Rina (not to mention your style!) :)
ReplyDeleteAmazing tips and motivation post. I usually workout 5 times a week. I used to do only yoga and jogging, but lately I discovered that I enjoy more different types of exercise each day. So now I do crossfire, yoga, pilates and 2 cardio programs per week and it's much more fun and interesting. But when I am in mykonos, where I live, I do jogging out in the nature and a lot of sup! :D That's the benefit of living on an island!
Thanks so much for sharing and have an amazing weekend! <3
Love,
