Styling Your Existing Wardrobe for a Tropical Vacation

Typically when I'm vacationing in a tropical place, I tend to wear clothing that resembles my surroundings: bright, colourful and patterned. I'll often buy new pieces specifically for vacationing. The only problem is, when I return home, those articles of clothing are placed in a closet until my next tropical vacation. 

For my past trip to Hawaii, I wanted to challenge myself and see if I could style clothing I would  normally wear on an everyday basis at home, for my vacation. There were very few steps I took to making this look Hawaii-appropriate and if you follow along, you too could take one of your everyday outfits and make it island-ready! 

1. Pick clothing appropriate for warmer weather. I know this one seems like a no brainer, but most of us already have existing shorts or tanks in our closets that would be vacation-appropriate. If not, invest in pieces that you could wear for both occasions. 2. Accessories make a difference. Accessories are an inexpensive and easy way to transition your everyday apparel to vacation-wear. Choose a pair of colourful tassel earrings, some fun sunglasses and an oversize bangle to complete your vacation look. 

3. Effortless beach waves complete your look. So true story. I completely forgot all my hot tools during this past vacation meaning I had no straightener, curling wand or curling iron with me. I braided my hair everyday so that I could have effortless waves which worked out out really well in the end and gave my hair a break from the heat I normally use on it.
