Roseau was probably my least favourite island to visit. Don't get me wrong, the setting is beautiful and they're known for their tropical rain forest. However, unless you book an island excursion, there is not much to see or do near the cruise terminal.
Since mosquitos have an affinity for my blood, my body produces a very unfavorable response to mosquito bites. Therefore, the hubby and I decided to forgo the hike through the rainforest. This probably saved me from a very uncomfortable allergic reaction and the Zika virus!
Most of the island was closed the day we visited. All the stores were locked and only a few restaurants were open (like the one serving exotic food in the picture above). We did visit on a Sunday, so I'm guessing this may be a day of rest for the residents.
One site we visited was the Dominica Botanical Garden. If you don't plan to hike through the rainforest, the garden will give you a taste of Roseau's greenery.
