Last week, I shared my thoughts on cruising vs. staying at an all-inclusive resort (check it out here). Today I wanted to share a mini recap on my Mexico vacation. The hubby and I stayed at the Barcelo Maya Beach Resort just outside of Cancun for 10 days. I had originally thought that we would be booking excursions and leaving the resort, but once we got there my plans for that quickly changed. I enjoyed having no planned schedule, waking up when we wanted, eating when we wanted and basically taking 10 days to rest as much as possible. I didn't realize how tired I really was until I found myself sleeping for half my vacation lol. There was so much to do at the resort that I never felt like I needed to leave. Zumba lessons by the pool, paddle boarding, catamaran sailing and kayaking we're some of the activities included in our stay.
I loved that every pool had a bar located within the pool and beds you could lounge in (while in the pool!) because it was too hot to not be in the water. They also had hammocks to lie in which I was really excited about because I had a hammock when I was a child that I loved.
We visited during their rainy season (which I didn't realize until after I booked the trip) and were pretty worried that we would be rained on for most of the trip. Fortunately, it only really rained hard on the first day of our trip and only for short periods thereafter which didn't bother us too much.
All-in-all I enjoyed our relaxing trip and it was exactly what I needed to feel somewhat human again. It's amazing what a full 8 hours of sleep a night can really do for a person, but more on that later!
This was one of my favorite evening dresses that I wore in Mexico. It flowed so beautifully as I walked, I felt like royalty wearing it. The red lip really helped the red accents in the outfit pop and I kept my accessories simple to really let the dress steal all of the attention. This dress comes in a variety of patterns and fabrics too, including this black and white one, perfect for any fall or winter event!
