Spring Fashion Trends 2017: Ruffles

Say hello to part 3 of my Spring Trends Series: Ruffles! I mean how could I not? Ruffles have been dominating the fashion scene even before Spring and they will continue to make appearances into summer - and I'm not even mad about it. If you're thinking that ruffles feel too young or girly, I'm here to open your mind to the idea of at least trying them out. 

There are ways to style ruffles without going overboard and crossing over into cutesy territory (unless that's your thing - there's no judgment here =)) . Read on for some ideas on how to style and wear ruffles: 

Think juxtaposed. Combine your feminine ruffles with a raw denim hemline or edgy moto jacket. The two contrasting styles make for a balanced yet interesting ensemble. 

Style a ruffled sweatshirt. How can you say no to anything in the atheleisurewear department? Anything that combines fashion and comfort gets a big thumbs up in my books. I opted for a denim skirt for the weekend but could have easily tucked the sweatshirt into trousers to complete my workday ensemble. 

Choose a subtle ruffle. I'm all about the drama when it comes to ruffles or bell-sleeve tops but that bold look isn't for everyone. If you're not sure if the ruffle trend is completely your thing, choose a subtle ruffled top like the one I'm wearing above. That way you get a taste of the trend without having to overly commit yourself, especially if you find ruffles a little too "girly" for your personal style.
